The basic way to improve the machinability of difficult cutting materials

2017-06-06

There are many ways to improve the machinability of difficult to cut materials, but mainly from the cutting conditions. Under normal circumstances, the workpiece material can not be changed. In considering the cutting conditions, we must also make reasonable choices according to the conditions.
1. Reasonable selection of tool materials
2. Reasonable selection of tool geometric parameters. Such as cutting high hardness quenched steel , the rake angle shoud be equal to zero or negative, you can smooth cutting at a reasonable cutting speed; and if cutting soft rubber, then should make the knife wedge angle is small, sharp blade, can smooth cutting.
3. Reasonable selection of cutting parameters. When cutting difficult to cut material, firstly, the cutting speed is selected reasonably according to the performance of the workpiece material and the material of the cutting tool. Secondly, the cutting depth and feed quantity are selected reasonably.
4. Proper heat treatment of the cutting material. The material properties and microstructure of the workpiece are changed by heat treatment to improve the machinability of the material.
5. Pay attention to cutting control. Only the use of reliable chip breaking measures can the cutting process be carried out smoothly.
6. Adoption of other processing measures. Such as plasma heating cutting, vibration cutting, electrical melting blasting cutting, etc., can get higher cutting efficiency.
